Lindsey Thornburg: Velvet Burnout and Lace

Designer Lindsey Thornburg made quite a wave with her cozy, bespoke cloaks. While I do quite like her new Mini Cloaks in Pendleton Harding Blue and Black Cashmere especially, what I really love is Lindsey Thornburg’s work with velvet and lace. I’ll post some of my favorites below. The black floral burnout on the High-Waisted Pantalones and bias cut Heroine Gown is so gorgeous! I love that the gown can be worn with the plunge in front or back. I’ve been pretty cuckoo for tempestuous shades of blue silk velvet lately, so the Speakeasy Mini Dress in gorgeous “Storm” silk velvet really makes me swoon. Oh! The lace on the drop-waist Black Widow Dress is so elegant–just a total stunner.

To see these pretty looks in action, you should watch “Divine Decree”, Lindsey Thornburg’s bewitching 2010 Fall Collection video lookbook directed by Crystal Moselle. “It’s about a girl dreaming up the alchemy of nature, her premonitions lead her near an understanding that everything within her perspective is magic. Though these visions she becomes apart of it all. When she wakes from her sleep she realizes, with confidence, she alone controls the destiny of her beauty.”
