Little Blue Dress
I’ve been thinking about how uncomfortable I end up during the parties surrounding the Holidays. I make the effort to get gussied up, but then end up just wanting to take my clothes off once I’ve eaten all the yummy food. My waistband becomes the enemy. I’d love to stay to chat with friends, but I feel fidgety because it seems I might hulk out of my frock with one more morsel. I’ve been looking at dresses that might be a bit more forgiving around the belly. Then I could stay at the party without streaking or feeling bound round the middle.
I have a penchant for wearing blue and I guess that becomes pretty evident in this selection of dresses I’ve gathered. Ha!

Totally agree with you about needing to find a dress with breathing room! I adore that first one by Toast.
The solution will never be to stop grazing–you just need a dress that is more understanding. :)
I love the first dress! SO beautiful.
Love this. Who wants to be uncomfortable at a holiday party? I’ve never understood those tight, tight dresses some women wear…comfort is beautiful itself.
I too love blue dresses and find myself collecting them. This is a lovely selection you’ve gathered.
So gorgeous! I usually don’t like velvet, but that one is calling my name. I love being slouchy and comfy when out and about, but sometimes I NEED to wear a too-small dress for fear it will never be worn. :)
I’m loving that Oxford Leaf Dress. I want the shoes in the picture also!
I love this post! This type of dress is my sewing goal for sure- the sort of thing that you never feel forced to take off because of discomfort!
Love that first dress, so pretty!
I have an all-purpose very cool black dress that works. Bonus is that it’s really comfortable, and made by a local Portland designer:

I get compliments ever time I wear this dress, and have yet to get tired of wearing it.
Thanks, ladies!
Leanne- I love that dress–it’s nice to hear that it’s as comfy as it looks! Emily is so talented. I’ve got one of her dresses slated for an upcoming post.
Anja- I’d like to learn how to sew this sort of dress for myself as well. I’ll be posting a dress that has gorgeous details and makes me want to be able to have mad skillz like my designer friends.
Megan- I want those shoes too! I’ll ask Aya where she got them.
Polly- Hahaaa! You have to take them all out for a spin, but if there is an amazing holiday spread involved–I’ve decided that I want belly freedom.
Molly Marika- Thanks! Let’s get together soon.
Maggie- I think that is very true. Also–I love your blog, but can’t comment because I don’t have an OpenID. I always want to though. :)
Danielle & Lisa- That Toast dress is a stunner!
Gorgeous round-up Jen!
