Céline Pinckers

I thought I’d wrap up the week with more chevrons and more lingerie! Here are some beautiful images from the SS 2011 lookbook that Belgian designer, Céline Pinckers, sent to me.

I love Céline’s style. I feel like she has nodded to some beautiful shapes from a number of eras (1800’s, early 1900’s, 1920’s, 1930’s, 1950’s, 1970’s, 1980’s) and melded them together to create something that looks vintage, but not costume. Which is interesting because she has a background in theatre. The designer studied choreography at the Athénée de Fragnée and found herself more drawn to the the theatre costumes. She eventually landed on her feet while studying fashion design at the Helmo Institute and millinery with Elvis Pompilio.

I love this part from her bio: “Her longing to find the essence of her nostalgia finally drove her to concentrate on lingerie, where her vision of a dreamy but self-reliant femininity is represented and reinvented day after day.”

I think Céline Pinckers’ soul is much older than her 26 years–she’s been making clothes since 2007. Beautiful work! Thanks, Céline!! ♥
