Vitriol d’Oeillet

I really want to smell this new perfume from Serge Lutens. I do love the spicy, soft smell of carnations–not just a filler flower! I even love the electric blue and hot pink ones that look like cheap sheet cake airbrushed frosting flowers. Not that this has anything to do with this new unisex fragrance–sorry!

The description says that Vitriol d’Oeillet is also peppery, woodsy and clove-y (I love clove!). I can’t wait to get it up my nose. If you live in Portland, this new perfume and four others will be stocked at Eden in late September!

Hey, do you mean that Lutens has 4 other new fragrances this season?! Or that they will stock a total of 5 Lutens scents at the store?

How one decides between all of them is a quandry and now more and more new ones? A place in town (it was called Cherie when you still lived here but now the name has changed) stocks about a dozen or so of his perfumes and I can never commit properly to just one. Chergui? Rahat Loukoum? Tubereuse Criminelle? I want them all!

I have 5 O’Clock Gingembre and Filles En Aiguilles. There are so many more that I’d love to have! I’m not sure if Eden is getting 4 other new ones–I’ll have to ask!

I, too, am curious about this one! Around the same time as Vitriol d’Oeillet was announced, De Profundis got a mention as well, and THAT is something I’d really like to try. Have you heard of it?

““De Profundis is the autumn release from niche perfumery house Serge Lutens.

The idea of the fragrance, says Lutens, is relatively simple – it’s based on chrysanthemum, and the text accompanying it conjures up an image of death and flowers – chrysanthemums being mourning flowers that French people place on graves every October for All Saints. To a Catholic, of course, De Profundis is also the cry from the wilderness – De Profundis clamavi – though to a literary Brit, it smacks more of Oscar Wilde and his plea from jail to Lord Alfred Douglas.”

Hi Jen! I got stuck reading your blog this morning, it’s so well written and the pictures are lovely. I’m going to Paris next week for some perfume reconnaissance, I plan on spending at least a day at the Palais Royal, getting as much Serge up my nose as possible. As far as I know, Eden will be getting 4 or 5 classic Lutens scents in addition to the 6 they’ve already got. I am so curious about the 2 new ones, and several other like Tuberose Criminelle and Muscs Kublai Khan that I haven’t been able to find in the states. Keep up the good work!
