Little Paper Planes: Songs for Your Heart

Hi. My name is Kelly Lynn Jones and I am an artist and curator living in Oakland, California with my boyfriend and two cats, Jane and Justin. I created the arts organization, Little Paper Planes in 2004 with the intention to provide the connections, engagement and momentum of collecting art ephemera.

I will admit it, I am completely a romantic. I often try to hide that fact, but yes I sometimes get teary eyed watching certain commercials, swoon over old couples holding hands and dream of catching a star falling from the sky while lying on my back on a mountain top. Though what really gets me every time is a song. Songs act as the markers for our memories. They entice nostalgia and a longing for the past though can also create a space for hopefulness that love is real.

Below are nine songs (click song titles to listen!) that hold a special place in my heart. They are matched up with a series of photographs I took on a camping trip with my boyfriend. Both music and nature share a kinship for me, where they make me stop my busy life and be in the present at least for that moment. Love is all about the present, letting go and emerging yourself deep within passion and the belief in something miraculous.
