Backstage at the Latin Quarter
When I was a kid I spent a lot of time hanging out backstage with chorus girls and actors at the Broadway theatre where my great-grandfather worked, The Broadhurst. Maybe this is why I always love backstage photographs so much–they always remind me of how dazzling it was to watch everyone getting ready for the show. I adore these photos by one of my favorite photographers, Gordon Parks, from 1958 for Life Magazine. These are shots of some performers getting ready backstage at the famous New York club, Latin Quarter.

What incredible colours! It must have been great to get to go backstage as a kid, a totally magical world.
I love all of these so, so much.
Oh my gosh, you lucky kid! I didn’t know that! Yes, the allure of backstage is a special one… that backstage feeling is addictive. These are GORGEOUS photos, thank you for sharing them! xo
