I know, I know, I know… Downton Abbey wedding mania. I’m sorry–I can’t help it. Plus, it’s Valentine’s Day week and Downton’s costume designer, Caroline McCall, is killing me this season. I don’t think I’ve ever yelled at the TV screen this much ever–or hit my husband in the arm repeatedly while whinnying. That Lanvin-inspired dress and the amazing 1830 Georgian diamond tiara–I mean, it’s ALL just SO GOOD. Every episode–I have an episode.

In the space of two weeks I went from having no interest in Downton Abbey to watching all three seasons, including (possibly illegally, I didn’t ask questions) downloading and watching the ones that haven’t aired here yet.
NOW THERE IS NO MORE DOWNTON FOR ME UNTIL NEXT FALL. And I can’t even talk about it with anyone because I’m too scared of giving out spoilers since I’ve already seen the finale.

yes, yes, yes, the Downton costumes this season! I’m doing the same thing-hitting the husband on the arm a lot. It’s far & away my favorite era of vintage. I keep wondering-about Downton and all the other British shows I watch-how much is made for the show by the costume dept, how much is original?
Well, the costume designer made the wedding gowns–no pressure! These people are just so fantastic–their job must be maddening.
