Barena Venezia

I’m completely enamored with this new collection from Venetian label, Barena. The clothes are so beautiful–as beautiful as the spirit behind them. Gorgeous textiles made in Veneto–some sourced from the archives of historic mills that are no longer producing. I love that this spring lookbook was shot in a 56 year old family-run broom factory. This marriage of cloth and location is perfection. Plus, that bloke in the photos has so much character–he looks like he ought to be carved out of stone–a modern Neptune. More HERE.

When I was a teenager, I spent 2 months with family friends in the Veneto region of Italy. I was already a dramatic and romantic person, so the breathtaking scenery and epic vistas were no help in quelling those traits. Nor did the generous, gregarious nature of the people and their billowing pride in provenance help. I was a goner from “go”–never stood a chance. I’d love to go back–it has claimed permanent real estate in my heart.
