Films: Barbara Stanwyck
Since “Barbara” has turned out to be the theme of the day here–I thought it would fun to mention Barbara Stanwyck again. I brought her up last week because Portland’s NW Film Center is having an amazing Barbara-a-thon over the next few weeks. Lots of films, including: Baby Face, Double Indemnity, Stella Dallas and a Douglas Sirk-directed film I haven’t seen yet, There’s Always Tomorrow. I’m so looking forward to that one because Stanwyck is such a powerful actor and Douglas Sirk’s characters are always playing relationship gymnastic while in an emotional pressure cooker. YES! She is absolutely BRILLIANT in that film. So funny.
Ohh, that shot from Breakfast For Two is amazing. As is that very first still. I just want to throw it all in today and watch old movies now…sigh.
