Domaine de Boisbuchet

The breathtaking Domaine de Boisbuchet 15th-century estate is located in the idyllic countryside of southwest of France (Poitou-Charente region). I should have posted this months ago in April, but just discovered it in my saved drafts! Mostly I’d love to visit because of the idea of roaming the beautiful grounds in the moonlight or fog and I’d love to see the old and modern architectural structures cohabiting, but there are also wonderful international design workshops throughout the summer months (early June to mid-Sept).

The workshops cover an array of subjects–textiles, sound design, jewelry, fashion, ceramics, packaging, industrial design, furniture, architecture, writing, and the list goes on. The courses are led by renowned designers, architects and artists who live and work together with the students for five to ten days. So much fun! You can see lovely videos of the workshops HERE and lots of photos on their Facebook page.

My ex-boyfriend lived for a time in Poitou-Charentes (in La Rochelle, a charming seaside town that is lovely and yet more charmingly free of tourists in the off-season…pro tip) and I did a some extended traveling in the region. It is beautiful country. I would love to go back. This time without him, ha!
