“…an observatory from which the view both up and down the Columbia could be viewed in silent communion with the infinite.”–Samuel Lancaster’s proposal for building Vista House
We took a little autumn escape to this weekend to attend the annual Hood River Harvest Fest in Hood River, Oregon. It isn’t very far from the city and the drive snaking the Historic US 30 is just breathtaking this time of year. It’s a fall color explosion and there’s waterfall after waterfall and lookout after lookout. It’s one of those places where for miles you keep gasping, “Oh, this is so beautiful. Wow. Did you see that??” The snap above is from a lookout we stopped at to see the Columbia River Gorge in all its glory. It’s one of those spots where troubles seem to be whisked away as you are reminded how tiny you really are. The yummy apples at the festival will make you feel tiny, too. They’re the size of boulders!
Have a lovely week, friends! xo
