Shop Visit: Betsy & Iya

Betsy & Iya is known as a heavy-hitter in the prolific Portland handmade jewelry scene — and for good reason! Starting out in 2008, founder and designer Betsy Cross has grown her business to include a charming NW Portland brick and mortar shop with a full-time staff of makers that keep her designs in constant production. The shop was recently remodeled and expanded to create more room for production, so I figured there was no better time than the present to stop by this wonderful Portland business.

In addition to Betsy & Iya’s stunning line of modern and minimally bohemian jewelry, you will find clothing, accessories, paper goods and apothecary potions from other independent designers, both local to Portland and national. I have yet to leave the store without nabbing a new gem to take home with me! You can always shop Betsy & Iya online if you can’t make it to their PDX storefront.

Betsy is also a strong supporter of small businesses and co-founded the Little Boxes campaign, which encourages Portlanders to shop local each holiday season via discount perks and prize raffles. Last year, Little Boxes included over 200 local stores! Betsy & Iya is a true Portland original and worth a visit.

The Betsy & Iya shop is located in Portland at 2403 NW Thurman and you can also shop online! Follow Betsy and her team on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. While you’re at it be sure to follow their fun and inspiring BLOG for outfit of the day features, behind the scenes action and more!

Thursday, Aug 7. 6PM—9PM. Stop by Betsy & Iya for the fun Modern Metal Hair Tie Release Party with Caravan Pacific and Studio ERG! Shop the beautiful new Caravan Pacific copper and brass hair ties while enjoying sips and snacks with lots of wonderful people. You can also shop the whole Betsy & Iya shop and there will be complimentary braiding with the purchase of a hair tie by local lass Emily Katz. YAY! MORE INFO
