Glimpses

Here are GLIMPSES of what’s been going on around here lately. Are you on Instagram? Say “hi”! You can also just follow my Instagram feed online if you don’t have an iPhone or see them as I tweet them on Twitter. Here we go…

1) We went to the ocean for my birthday this past Sunday. I really needed that!! It was amazing and the tide was out far enough that you could wander around the rocky sea garden to say “hello” to the sea anemones and mussels. I swear the air was extra salty just for me.

2) I never stop missing my grandparents (Honey Kennedy + John McCabe), but lately they’ve been really consuming my thoughts. I wish I could hug them and catch up. Looking at their wedding picture–I just know that they’re together and so happy.

3) I filled the house with flowers as a gift to myself. I’m so in love with these white garden roses that I’m already starting to get nervous that the shops will be out of them when I need to get more. They smell like lush roses with hints of cassis, citrus and carnations. COMPLETELY INTOXICATING.

4) I got older. Excuse the morning space out. I took this while I was waiting for my special birthday “pre-breakfast croissant” and cold press coffee to be procured.

5) Blanket shark.

6) So much lovely birthday treasure from my sweet friend, Tamera. She even wrote this wonderful post about me, Jane and Karie–all June 26ers. I’m a total cry baby… I can’t handle so much generosity and thoughtfulness very gracefully. ♥

7) It is hard to get my husband to wear my favorite vintage hot pink shirt, but he has done it 3 times for me in the past couple of weeks! YES! I think he is secretly enjoying getting the compliments from all the ladies.

8) I finally framed my lovely photographs by Chad Merritt. You can find them in his Etsy shop, Mon Petit Fantome. I framed these roses from his shop with a white frame and a dreamy blush pink mat. You can see it all framed–HERE.

9) I bought this French coffee table book from 1971 this weekend. I nabbed it for $5 at a local shop! The photographs are incredible–you can pretty much open the book and land on castle ground. SO BEAUTIFUL! I also love that the author is named “Gaston Bonheur”.

9) More flowers. I don’t remember what any of these are called, but I had a feeling they would all look fantastic together.

10) I found this elegant beaded purse at a shop this weekend. I’m still thinking about it!! It was lined in the lightest rosy pink silk. Ooooohhh those beaded little gill-like details. I bet this bag got to attend quite a few roaring parties!

Glimpses

Here are some more glimpses of what’s been going on around here lately. Are you on Instagram? Come say “hi”! You can also just follow my Instagram feed if you don’t have an iPhone. I also post them in my Twitter feed if you are into that!

1) I had a cold last week, but dragged myself out for a two mile leisurely walk later in the week. Portland is really gorgeous this time of year, so it was worth leaving the house looking like a clammy leper for a little while.

2) Portland may be gorgeous right now, but it can also turn on a dime into overcast and chilly. We ended up building a fire on Friday night to keep warm. I love it though!

3) I had a rough week and my husband brought home some lovely peonies for me. I love clustering them in some of my favorite vintage bottles. I have a glass bottle and vase hoarding problem. I AM selective, however… in my own way.

4) I guess it has been almost two weeks since I picked up this copy of BULLETT magazine. It is really lovely! There is a beautiful editorial with Jena Malone. They announced on Twitter that a newer issue just came, too! I’m excited. I recommend picking one up and reading it in the park!

5) I picked up a tiny sample bottle of the Lightning Paw fragrance from OLO while I was at the Remodelista local market (here). It’s beautiful! I also got a bottle of the hair tonic that I’ve been thinking about getting for a while. I love it–smell like a fancy hippie. OLO has several nice samples sets!

6) I have a vintage linens addiction as well. I guess I’m getting better… maybe. I do have a lot of lovely old pillowcases that I’ve thrifted over the years. I can’t help it! When you can get high quality, soft cotton for 50 cents… do not pass it up! Squirrel it away. *Squirrel everything away. AAAHHHHH hoarder. (*DO NOT SQUIRREL SQUIRRELS AWAY. They are hoodlums.)

7) I’ve had this book for quite a while. I bought it at the same time that I bought an old book called “Poisoning”–so don’t mess with me. I will vex you at every turn. I AM DANGEROUS. I actually read the book at the ocean this weekend while talking to a seagull. Not so dangerous… maybe.

8) Shortly after this photo was taken, Zelda slowly and quietly licked the wall. This happens with furniture, the sidewalk, tools, other animals, trees, the air…

9) I totally made out with these white lilacs. Twice. They smelled so good–I really put my face straight into the bunch. I felt a little drunk walking away. Magic.

10) Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach. You’ve seen The Goonies, right? Ha. Spent many hours here on Saturday. There is nothing like a trip to the ocean to balance a person out. I’d love to get out of the country, but, right now, a day on the Oregon coast full of gluten free crepes, sea creatures, driftwood lounging and deep breaths is a pretty amazing escape.

Glimpses

I recently joined Instagram for iPhone–are you there too? Are you on Twitter, too? Come find me! My username is for both Instagram and Twitter is honeykennedy. You can also just view my feed online or see them as I tweet them if you’d like. You’ll find it’s pretty heavy in the flowers, Portland dream homes, food and dogs categories–the things that have been making me smile throughout the day.

Here are some of my recent posts:

1) One of my favorite houses in Portland. The sunroom makes my heart flutter. The house looks like a giant cake.

2) YAY! I finally liberated my favorite pendant light fixture from basement storage this weekend. I’m so glad to see it glowing again. Umm… also looks like cake!

3) Neighborhood dog and pal to my little Boston Terrier, Zelda. They rub noses through the fence when we walk by.

4) Portland is exploding with blossoms–I love my walks around town.

5) Zelda and I took a catnap together under the skylight upstairs in the guest bedroom. It feels like a tree fort up there!

6) Pretty fleurs sitting on my vanity. I filled the house with flowers last week! Seeing them in every room really lifted my mood–I had more energy, I swear.
