Have a wonderful weekend!! I’ve caught some kind of awful flu and it sounds like a car driving on a gravel road when I breathe. I had so many fun plans for the weekend, but they have quickly devolved to tea and juice chugging while sleeping or watching Game of Thrones. I hope you all evade this beast — it really does a number on you. Have fun! xo Jen

I have been gobsmacked by the amazing merchandise at The Line for a while now. I usually reserve any curatorial references for galleries and exhibits, but this shop carries so many carefully considered wares that feel gallery or museum-worthy. The selection of clothing, accessories, beauty, apothecary, housewares and books is absolutely stellar. So much so, I often let out audible whinnies and whimpers while perusing. Someday I’d love to visit The Apartment — the stunning NYC shop space housed inside a dreamy 1872 building. I’ve gathered a few of my current faves below — paring down my wish list was tough! More HERE.

Happy Friday! We’ve been watching our niece for the past week and, while exhausting, it has been a lot of fun. We have another week of it ahead, but I also hope to squeeze in some more unpacking (YES. We STILL have boxes to get through. Uuuuggggh.) and get a couple of rooms rearranged to make more sense. We’re also going to be getting a fence put in soon — which I know might sound immensely boring to most people, but living on an alley without one has been a bit unnerving. I have dreams of a gorgeous (and incredibly small! ha.) English garden in the backyard, but that might take a while since it is a just a pile of dirt and some concrete right now. Someday. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend! xo Jen

Entering the new Palace space on East Burnside for the first time the word that immediately came to mind was, appropriately enough, ‘palatial’. You’d never guess that owner Charlotte Wenzel just moved into the new space in late October because the interior feels so perfectly put together with beautiful art on the walls, fantastic displays throughout, and a veritable jungle of plants livening things up. Palace covers just about all the shopping needs you could have — new and vintage clothing, shoes, accessories, housewares, books, stationery, notebooks, magazines, records, skincare, cosmetics, pantry items and much more.
I gravitated towards the clothing first and was quite impressed with the vintage offerings of seasonally appropriate wool, leather, and corduroy coats, dreamy sweaters, and beautiful silk kimonos — I can just imagine how elegant it would feel to sip my morning tea with one of those embroidered, brightly-colored beauties on! Mixed in with the vintage, I found a great selection of both modern and bohemian items from Ace & Jig, Edith A. Miller, Prairie Underground, Colorant, Hansel from Basel and THVM denim. Also on hand, Palace has Aigle rubber boots for both men and women in all the sizes to keep your feet dry in style.
Once you’ve outfitted yourself, it’s time to show some love to your home. With a wide variety of objets d’art, baskets, ceramics, throws and linens on hand, you’ll have no trouble finding that missing piece for yourself and perfect gifts for friends and family. My favorites were the Sunbeam beeswax candles, Kontex towels from Japan, and the cheeky ‘boob’ pillow cases from Gravel & Gold. Foodies will be impressed with Palace’s collection of Royal Rose syrups, honey from Le Parfait and Heavenly, preserves from Smiley, Mumm’s sprouting seeds, a large selection of cookbooks, and even a small selection of wine.
There’s so much more in store as you encounter the large display of skincare offerings from natural brands like Red Flower, Fat & The Moon, Kate’s Magik, Weleda, Acure, Aster & Bay, Skin Owl and many, many more. Any skincare need you may have will definitely meet it’s match here. Alima Pure cosmetics, OLO fragrances and Butter London nail polishes are lovely when getting dolled up.
Palace also carries a wonderful selection of ceramic, beaded, and woven jewelry alongside pieces from local makers Tiro Tiro and Hazel Cox. I can’t help envisioning retiring back home after a party or long day at work, removing your beautiful jewels and placing them in a sweet ceramic dish, slipping on a kimono, brewing up a cup of T Project tea, and putting on a Françoise Hardy record… just heavenly. All available at Palace!
Palace is located in Portland at 2205 East Burnside Street and is open daily from 11AM to 7PM. You can also follow @palacestore on Instagram.
