Hello! HAPPY WEEKEND! I tried to get cozy last weekend, but the weather spiked back into the 80s. Maybe this weekend? I’ll be going to brunch, running errands, baking up a storm (yum — I just made these), and doing the mountain of laundry I’ve been completely ignoring. I still don’t feel settled into fall because of our nutty weather, but I’m totally ready for those moody grey skies, crisp air, and long walks across crunchy leaves now. How about you? xo Jen

I’ve really been looking forward to Goodwin opening and now it has! I’m so happy to see Elise’s beautiful new shop — I know it has been a dream of hers for years. I’m also happy to see she is stocking amazing designers from her Nashville home base, like my always fave Elizabeth Suzann. There is also a great selection of lovely things from a bevy of beloved Portland designers! Look for Goodwin goods from Brookes Boswell, Lauren Winter, Natalie Joy, Nahanni Arntzen, MONOM, and REIFhaus. My other favorites are the Rose Suede Slip On Shoes, the Walnut Leather Wrap Belt, the Wool Box Tops in oatmeal and charcoal, the fog hand-dyed hemp Cocoon Duster Vest, and the Navy Wool Bell Jacket. And I REALLY want to burn a Goodwin Moondance Candle while listening to some Van Morrison! More HERE.

North Mississippi Avenue’s Flutter is a unique and artfully arranged treasure trove of a boutique bursting with a large selection of vintage clothing, the cutest party dresses, new and vintage jewelry, dreamy ephemera, lovely tarot decks, wonderful books, stationery, new and vintage home goods, fragrances, skincare, candles, old-timey toys and candy, and lots more awesome stuff. Shop owners Cristin Hinesly and Sara Kolp (and shop kitty King) do a stellar job of stocking the curious, romantic, dazzling, and nostalgic.
Flutter is one of my favorite places to shop for party attire as they always have lots of fun, sparkly dresses and tops in stock for great prices. I purchased one of my favorite New Year’s Eve dresses at Flutter a few years ago — a lovely black number complete with tulle underskirt for plenty of flounce and a peter pan collar covered in silver sequins. There’s also plenty of sweet jewelry to choose from to complete your look with baubles from Portland makers, including Jesseca Anne and Brehan Todd, mixed in with a large selection of fantastic vintage pieces.
Another reason I love to visit Flutter is their great selection of gifts! Over the years I have picked up items for friends and family including beautiful coffee table books, fortune telling cards and heavenly scented candles and hand creams. It’s also a great place to pick up classic toys including kaleidoscopes, cap guns, animal masks, and even the same Fischer Price record player I enjoyed as a child. There are also delicious treats — don’t forget to grab some violet mints and a variety locally made Woodblock chocolate bars too. There’s beautiful wrapping papers, a slew of ribbon choices, and fun cards to convey your love. Plus, Emerald Petals shares the back of the space if you need to grab some flowers or a little plant to go with your gifty goods. Shop HERE.
Head to Flutter for a delightful shopping experience with something for everyone. Give yourself a good chunk of time so you can get lost browsing all the magical goods. There’s so much to see — you’ll enjoy every minute! Plus, they have tarot readings regularly if you want to get a little direction and insight into your life.
Flutter is located in here in beautiful Portland at 3948 N Mississippi Avenue and is open Sunday thru Thursday from 11AM to 6PM, Friday from 11AM to 7PM and Saturday from 10AM to 7PM. You can also shop Flutter online anytime!
HAPPY LONG WEEKEND! Well, to my U.S. friends at least! I hope you all have a relaxing and fun time the last wild weekend before it’s back to fall productivity and less daylight. I have friends in town and I’m really looking forward to chilling out a bit, grilling on the patio and drinking many, many glasses of rosé. See you next week! xo Jen

Happy Friday, friends! I’ve been enjoying time this week with my good friend, Jenna, while she’s visiting me from Brooklyn. We’ve gone to the ocean, picked fruit and flowers, talked for hours, and I’m looking forward to taking her to more shops around town. I’m also looking forward to doing some cooking! Well, light cooking, mostly making salads and ice cream (we have this simple ice cream maker and it’s great!) since it’s supposed to be 100 degrees this weekend. Have a fun one! See you next week. ♥ xo Jen
